Van and Amber became fast friends waitressing together at a Rock and Roll sushi bar in the early 2000’s. When Van ran off with the Sushi Chef to start their own restaurant in Costa Mesa, called The Retreat, Amber joined in and organized the private parties. In the meantime, Van moonlighted as a florist, creating fantastic arrangements for spas and restaurants near South Coast Plaza.

After the closing of The Retreat, Van and her Chef ran off to Vietnam for an unforgettable destination wedding that Van solely planned and organized, which ended up gracing the pages of Asia Weddings and Honeymoons Magazine.

Currently Van is busy raising a fireball of a kid, creating centerpieces with succulents and air plants and continues to work with her chef husband doing Asian Fusion Pop-ups with innovative menus that will blow your tastebuds around Orange County under the name r3-izakaya.
